  • Asphalt 8 can run on the cheapest of Android devices, Nokia X included, but every now and then there’s a Samsung Galaxy Core or Prime or some lower end unit that won’t run it. Enter Asphalt Nitro, that’s able to run on basically EVERY model out there, being so light it only takes up 25 MB of storage.

Sacrifices had to be made, so you’ll get only about 2 background songs in the game. Launched in May 2015, this title comes from free from Gameloft and it’s pretty fun and good looking for such a small package. The game provides 8 race modes, including Classic, Versus, Elimination, Knockdown, Infected, Gate Drift, Catch and Escape.

There’s multiplayer in the mix and surprisingly people really got into the game, since it’s packed with (aggressive) gamers all of the time and there are no delays in connecting to a session. You can earn stars in order to progress further in the main campaign and said stars are achieved by not crashing, pulling ramp flying and spins or finishing in a certain amount of time.

There are 5 locations to race on, 14 tracks and that includes areas in Brazil, China, USA, the Alps and Iceland. 21 cars are included, among which we find the Ferrari LaFerrari, Nissan 370Z, Ford Shelby GT500 and Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X. Cars can obviously be upgraded, in areas like acceleration, top speed, handling and nitro.

Gamers can get credits and stars as they race and now to the downside of things, the controls aren’t really fantastic, especially when nitro is on. The car easily loses its grip and handle and flies off the track immediately. Graphics are quite good and they remind me a bit of Asphalt 7, which is not bad at all. This is a boon for gamers with modest devices, that can have long hours of fun with this title.

We give it an 8.6 out of 10 and you can download it here.
