  • It is true that the latest update to version 5.3.x for Google Play Music has barely arrived. It is also true that a large number of new versions in a short time can become frustrating. However version 5.4.1 for Play Music brings so many improvements you will be glad it came. It’s really an important step for Android.

Through Play Music Google offers users the ability to upload 20.000 songs for free in the cloud and manage and listen to them where and whenever one would wish. However one of the features the app lacked is support for multiple owned devices. It’s clear now that with the new version that is no longer a problem. You can stream through Chromecast and remove any device in the list that you don’t own anymore. The interface has also changed a bit, there is a new Radio option and the ability to keep music from it on device.

Now for the bad side of things. Not all the options are available in all areas. Especially the Radio option but also some other regarding the interface. That is the way it is. Come to think of it Google Music service itself is only available in a limited number of countries. So it shouldn’t come as a surprise. In any case, the update also fixes a few bugs and optimizes the speed of it so it’s a win-win scenario. And maybe in time… Download the latest version from the Play Store. Mind you the update might take a while to arrive. If that is the case you can download the .APK from here.
