If you want to learn more about Mother Nature, there’s an app for that and it’s available in the Google Play Store. It’s called Audobon Mammals and it goes for a mere $0.99, down from the regular price of $4.99 as part of the 4th of July Google Play Store special deals.
The software is made by Green Mountain Digital and it’s a basic guide to 272 mammal species in the US and Canada. It features a detailed set of photos, range maps, lots of descriptions and it’s a very intuitive piece of software. The app is optimized for Android 2.1+ devices and has a minimum requirement of a 800 MHz processor. It also needs 180+ MB for its database, installed directly on the SD card with version 2.2+. For each species you get the expert information on the appearance, habitat, behaviour and more.
Detailed color photographs accompany the information and you also get a large selection of mammals sounds. There’s a detailed range of maps that highlight the resident distribution and a detailed mammal natural history area. You can browse the furry creatures by name, shape, by family, you can do advanced searches, by color, habitat, shape, region and more. There’s a sightings feature and Life Lists, as well as the ability to record your own experiences with these animals.
