  • Google’s so called “Home Invasion” with it’s Chromecast streaming device seems to want to prove itself  worthy of your HDMI input. And with this upcoming feature alone it’s becoming really attractive. Add to that the real cheap $35 price and the 2.83-inch size and you really have something to wish for. Hold on! On your way to ordering it let me tell you a few things.

The Chrome 24 Beta – Chromecast streaming  is still in Beta. And that doesn’t exactly mean that with the stable release so will the feature be included. Far from it! Then there is the fact that it really doesn’t offer it’s true potential in this early form. It still needs real work. Sure if you have YouTube or Vimeo installed on your Android smartphone those seem to work quite well. Other than that … let’s just say I wouldn’t venture too far.

Now talking about a Beta you are required to activate the experimental feature. So first download the app if you haven’t already. Then type “chrome://flags/#enable-cast” – in the URL bar. Take a look at the image above. That is to know what to expect. Happy (trying to) streaming
