  • Up until now, Chrome Remote Desktop was only available on the PC, as an extension that could be installed optionally. Now Remote Desktop has arrived on Android devices as well, through a special app.

This means that tablet and smartphone users will be able to access the desktop PC from home or the office whenever they want. You will still need to install a Google Chrome extension, available as a free app. The Remote Desktop sessions are available through both WiFi networks and LTE ones and all you’ll need is the PIN code to be entered.

The original Chrome Remote Desktop debuted back in 2011, being available to assist people with their work. You usually get it via the Chrome Web Store app and now there’s an Android app here. By the way, the desktop sessions are encrypted with Chrome’s SSL features and no, it’s not vulnerable to the HeartBleed bug.

You can download the app here.
