  • You’ve all heard about F-Zero and Wipeout or AG Drive on iOS, but there’s room for more spaceship racers, right? One such example is the Cosmic Challenge title, that’s shown in action below on the Huawei P8 Max. The game is available for free in the Play Store.

This one is an outer space racer, that was launched in May this year by the company Ivanovich Games. You’ll race against 5 competitors and have to finish in top 3. Aside from regular races there are also Elimination rounds, but the core of the game, if you ask me, is the track editor. It’s not every day that a racer lets you build your own cosmic race track.

You can add new ramps, boost pads, higher portions, lower ones and all sorts of crazy corkscrews and nifty twists of the track. The more complex ones are unlocked with in game currency, as you probably expected. Graphics are nice and especially the way the ships are rendered is top notch. You can save the game in the cloud and access community circuits as you progress.

The ship is controlled by tilt or touch and you can also activate auto acceleration, if you want less of a challenge. Outer space environments look great, but sadly there aren’t many extras aside from racing. There are no weapons or upgrades, just expensive ships to unlock and boost pads to pass over. The background music isn’t bad, but there’s no famous artist here.

In the end the game was fun, although slightly fun and not packing a huge amount of variety. We give it an 8.7 out of 10.
