  • Warcraft 3 still remains a popular title, even after all these years, but even more popular is its multiplayer mod called Defense of the Ancients, that most gamers call DotA. It’s played in parties of 5 gamers and I know for a fact that there are players maniacally using it for days on end. Now it appears that the new DotA is headed to Android tablets.

The genre here is known as MOBA, which is short for multiplayer online battle arena, that involves a side trying to conquer the enemy’s base. This type of game is very popular and DotA is not even the trendiest right now, since League of Legends has taken over. DotA 2 is being developed by the folks of Valve, who want to bring it to the mobile platforms, experimenting with it on iOS and Android. For now Valve’s boss Gabe Newell says that the DotA 2 is running in a disappointing way on tablets, but with a bit more work the final results will be good.

With tablets with quad core CPUs and passing Retina Level, I say that they have more than enough of specs to run the game and run it well. There are already MOBA style games on Android, like Gameloft’s Heroes of Order and Chaos, so this can be done. Who wants DotA 2 on tablets? I also want cross platform play…
