Driver Speedboat Paradise Review (LG G Flex 2): Driver Becomes a Boat Race and a… Boasting Race (Video)

It’s one thing to simulate crazy car racing and move on to speed boat racing and another to include a senseless high life simulator in the same title. Driver was a pretty appreciated almost-GTA game series, that involved crazy car stunts and a very nice damage concept. On mobile Driver became for some reason the title Driver Speedboat Paradise, a speedboat racing game played on the LG G Flex 2 by us.
The game is a Riptide GP2 rival pretty much, with exotic locations and “lifestyle upgrades”, plus an energy system. Expensive customizations are included, but not ones related to your boat. You can get expensive houses, guitars, cars, outfits, in order to attract babes, apparently. Of course you can also upgrade boats and there are 6 modes of racing here: drag race, regular race, elimination, time trial and a few more.
I expected high end graphics here and while we do get 3D graphics, the speed sensation is non existing here. It feels like the action is on slow mo all the time. Over 20 boats are available and probably the only good thing here is the electro soundtrack. No, scratch that, the soundtrack is annoying too… Simulation is also nowhere to be found, since boats float unrealistically above water, they fly and hit other, plus a nitro boost will throw a ship off the course once you hit it.
You can collect nitro and ship parts for future upgrades and in order to fulfill various objectives, as if racing wasn’t hard enough. Gamers can do tricks and flips in mid air, but that will usually slow you down instead of help you. Add to that freemium mechanics and timers and you’ll see what Ubisoft is offering here. We give this game a 7 out of 10 and you can download it here.
