  • It appears Gmail is opening up once version 5.0 strikes, getting support for the likes of Yahoo and Outlook. Google intends to release Gmail version 5.0 for Android with support for all the other email accounts like Yahoo or Outlook.

The details appeared in a leaked promo video and you’ll be allowed to switch between accounts with a simple swipe or by touching the account drop down. The app will obviously adopt the Material Design, an obvious choice since Android 5.0 Lollipop will impose this trend. This means rounded avatars, more ample animations and revamped iconography.

Google already has a stock email Android app for Nexus, Google Play Edition phones and Android One devices, that it released on the Play Store recently. That one supports IMAP, POP3 and Exchange accounts. However, once the revamped Gmail comes, Google may get rid of the AOSP email app. We have no idea when the app will drop, but it’s safe to assume it will happen before the year is out.
