  • Over the past hours we’ve noticed an update to the Google Play services, or better said a series of updates. First it reached version 6.1, then 6.1.07 and then 6.1.11. During Google I/O this year we learned that the Google Play Services would be updated on a 6 week cycle.

The changes brought by the new updates include UI tweaks, like a refreshed header for the Google Settings app and a new dialog for Google Play Games. That dialog lets you toggle your profile from public to hidden and also includes a new style with the same green color as the Play Store 5.0 update. Play Games brings a new XP bar that animates when you start a new game, as well as a new achievements interface.

There’s an enhancement for analytics as well, via the Enhanced Ecommerce, offering insights on clicks, impressions and other information. The update will also enhance Google Drive Android API, resolving conflicts more easily between local and server files. The Google Fit developer preview came in August and today gets refreshed, by letting devs test fitness apps on any Android device.

The software you need is right here and 7 separate downloads of Services are here.
