  • The action bar that you find at the top of the Google Play Store app is being replaced with a regular Google Search bar, that has the words “Google Play” inside, apparently.

The info comes from Google interface engineer Kirill Grouchnikov, who leaked the news via Google+. This is a server side change, so you don’t have to do anything for the update to take place. This also means that not everyone will get the update at the same time. The search bar now disappears when you scroll down and reappears when you scroll up.

This certainly reminds us of the Now page on the Google Now launcher. The hamburger icon remains on the top and clicking it opens up a navigation menu. If you tap on the search bar, you will see a list of your past searches. The purpose of this change is to make the Search stand out more in the Play Store.
