Google Play Testing a New Sidebar for Related Applications

  • There’s a new an experimental web interface being tested for Google Play these days, bringing an updated UI among others. The new and improved interface involves a sidebar that shows similar apps to the one you’re viewing, as well as other apps from the same developer.

The lists of apps are placed at the bottom of the page right now, below the description, reviews, changelog and other info about the app. The sidebar is placed on the right side of the screen and features apps that are similar to the one you’re checking out. This approach was already done on mobile and tablet for a while now.

This means that Google wants to show recommendations in a more handy way, instead of relegating them to the bottom of the page, which makes sense. By the way, the user who posted this is using a notebook with a 1366 x 768 pixel resolution, connected to an external Full HD screen, so that’s why it may look odd.
