  • Google’s Slides is a pretty nifty alternative to PowerPoint, but there was one big feature lacking from it for a while now. We’re obviously talking about the lack of support for Chromecast streaming, to a bigger screen. Well, that came today and we have the APK for the update.

Google Slides required some workarounds till now to get your presentation from the Android tablet or phone to the projector or big screen TV at work. Chromecast support is offered in this new version, that hasn’t hit the Play Store just yet. The cast icon will appear as soon as you open a presentation now. If you tap the icon you will bring up a menu that will list which Chromecast devices you can stream to.

Once the casting has started, you can use the phone or tablet as a remote control for the presentation and switch between the next and previous slides. There will be a timer to the side, keeping track of the time spent on a screen. Notes made to accompany a presentation will also be shown. The APK has been signed by Google so everything is legit. You can download it here.
