  • There have been quite a few Grand Theft Auto titles ported on mobile and tablets till now, but one more can’t hurt, especially an unique one such as GTA Chinatown Wars. It strays from the general approach, graphics and basically everything that defines GTA and goes all mobile. It’s no wonder it has a bite size format, since it started on the Nintendo DS and PSP after all.

Now it’s available on Android, priced at 5 euros and we played it on the Samsung Galaxy S7. Make no mistake, this is no game for the kids, as it includes a lot of drug trafficking and some pretty bad and badass guys to deal with. The creation of Rockstar Leeds, this title is an open world action adventure game, with cell shaded graphics and some pretty bad controls for the car.

Other than the Oriental atmosphere and great story, the best thing about the game is its great map/GPS system, that’s excellently implemented. Controls include buttons used to kick, punch or shoot and there’s even one used to jump over fences. We also get a mini game that involves hard wiring cars, but that one is annoying, since you have too little time to finish it and the alarm starts.

This is still GTA, so you can get chased by cops if you do something illegal, but you can also do cop, ambulance and taxi missions. There’s a drug dealing economy here, which an excellent scrip behind it and the core being the varied prices of substances all over town. The story of Chinese triads and the rise of a young trafficker is fascinating and humorous.

Violence abounds, there’s quite ab it of blood and missions are very short, typical for mobile. This is one of the best GTA titles I’ve played on mobile, like ever and it worked like a charm on the Galaxy S7. We give it a 9.5 out of 10 and you can download it here.
