On the Run Review (Allview X2 Xtreme): Surprisingly Fun to Play, Especially Since it Resembles Asphalt Overdrive (Video)

  • It’s very hard to differentiate an endless runner from another, let alone a car-based endless runner, but somehow On the Run did it. It may feel a bit like Asphalt Overdrive, but the experience here is quite different. We played it on the Allview X2 Xtreme and you should also know that this is a free game in the Play Store.

The game starts off slow, but becomes quite fast after a few checkpoints. It’s difficulty level is quite low and aside from changing lanes and racing to the next checkpoint before a timer runs out, you also have to jump on ramps, collect coins and bolts that will give you a huge speed boost. Coins collected can be used for upgrades and unlocking new cars, although prices are quite high. You can also buy powerups.

Those powerups may even turn your ride into a monster truck or tank even. Combos can be triggered and an extra speed boost is available if you suddenly swerve when you’re behind a car. Crazy police cars will appear every once in a while to clear the path ahead and there’s lots of traffic in later stages. This remains a fun game, with daily bonuses, an energy meter and gems, typical for a freemium.

Upgrades include acceleration, max speed, resilience and turbo speed. In the background there’s a generic electronic music, but that’s not the draw of the game. This is a fun experience and a title I’d recommend you try. We give it an 8.7 out of 10 and you can get it here.
