  • Discovery’s Shark Week may not be as popular now as it was 3 years ago, but sharks still remain the most feared beast of the sea. That’s why the Hungry Shark series is so popular probably and straight out of Ubisoft comes Hungry Shark World, which we tested on the LG G5 handset below.

The aim is to eat as much as you can since not eating for a longer while leads to starvation. Obviously you can unlock bigger sharks, upgrade your current beast and even attach lasers and other cool gadgets to your creature. The control is simple, since we have a virtual thumbstick on the right of the screen and we can also tap the screen for a boost.

You can’t exactly eat anything you want, since some jellyfish and bigger critters can only be eaten if you have a certain level of shark. There are missions to complete every day and I have to admit that the animations of the huge variety of fish is impressive. Of course, you’ll also be chomping on humans, that run scared and scream, to the delight of sadistic gamers.

One should be wary once approaching the shore, since that’s where a sheriff resides and is ready to shoot you. You can upgrade the shark in the speed, bite and boost area, unlock new seas and even sidekick creatures. It’s a fun game, with daily treasure chests and always something new to unlock and upgrade. However, every time you play the game you get the same experience, so repetitiveness is a problem here.

Somehow the game manages to be fun, maniacal and original, while also not being hugely violent. 8.1 out 10 from us and you can get the game here.
