Infinite Skater Review (Huawei P9): One of the Most Psychedelic Runners Out There (Video)

We’re way past the endless runner craze of two or 3 years ago, so now all the game makers try to come up with an original proposition related to their runners. Infinite Skater is one such proposition, adding some rail grinding and some extra soul into the experience.
We played the game on the Huawei P9 handset and had a blast. It’s available for free in the Play Store and it’s a gorgeous looking runner. It has great graphics, a mystical atmosphere and straight forward controls. You can swipe up and down to jump and slide under obstacles. Of course, you can also swipe left and right to change lanes and avoid traps.
There are side rails to grind upon, since you do control a skateboard after all. You can also ride animals, provided you can jump on them and overlap lanes with them. Also, there are incoming critters, which have to be avoided. You can opt for a male or female character, get gems and unlock a shield as you go. The game uses soft pastels and bright hue, sort of like iOS 7 skeurmorphism meets Monument Valley.
Every once in a while you’ll be reaching checkpoints, meaning gates in this case, that will show you spirit animals, who will utter words of wisdom. They’re inspirational quotes, accompanied by trippy animations, but somehow they’re pretty smartly implemented not gimmicky. Multipliers and gifts are available, as well as reincarnation wheels, used to resurrect your character.
Traps are quite complex and you have to avoid spikes, stampedes or simply pits ahead. This is one of the prettiest looking endless runners I’ve seen and also one of the most spiritual experiences from the genre. It gets from us a solid 8.6 out of 10. You can download it here.
