  • We’re just hours away from the debut of the biggest sporting event from the second half of 2012: the London 2012 Olympics. Now the London Olympics have an official app for keeping track of results and medal count and we reviewed it on the Acer Iconia Tab A200 tablet we tested. The app comes with a complete list of events that are happening live.

It also has maps and directions for all venues where sporting events take place. There’s a countdown in the upper right side of the app, till the event starts. There’s also a News section in the application, as well as a calendar with the trials and times listed. You’ll also find a full list of possible sporting events, with details and news. What’s really nice is that in the about section for each sport you get to know the rules of each trial, so you can learn the rules of the triathlon for example.

Users can access a Famous Athletes area and create a My Sport area and also view a My Country area, to learn more about their favourites. The app also promises some coverage at some point, so hopefully you’ll get some video streams and stuff like that when the competition goes live. We give the app a 7 out of 10 and you can download it from here for free.
