  • The moment we’ve all been waiting for has come: Gameloft has finally unveiled the launch date for Modern Combat 5 Blackout. The game is coming to your consoles, phones and tablets next week, on July 24th. The long awaited FPS will feature a lot of improvements from the predecessor, that was a very good game and had a very fun multiplayer.

We previously knew the game was coming this summer, after a few teasers, but we didn’t know exactly when. Gameloft also announced what the graphical enhancements of the new title will be. It seems we’ll get eye adaptation and bloom, with exposure adjusting in a more realistic fashion when you move between lighter and darker areas. There will also be soft particles, which means improved interactions of particles with surrounding geometry and underwater distort and caustics.

Modern Combat 5 will also bring real time character shadows, heat haze, which is the air distorsion triggered by the heated gun firing a bullet. Finally, there will be specular effects, color correction and a ton of other goodies. Would be nice if we could get a list of supported devices for this baby… I imagine a Galaxy S3 would stutter a bit, right?
