Narcos Cartel Wars Review (Gionee S6S): Capable Clash of Clans Clone, a Bit More Actually (Video)

Narcos was a huge hit for its first two seasons on Netflix and it was expected that the show would get its own videogame. It’s a Clash of Clans clone (sort of), available for free on Android and we played it on the Allview X3 Soul Style, a handset also known as the Gionee S6S. I some regards, this game is more like Boom Beach than Clash of Clans to be honest.
You can hire sicarios, which are assassin’s and even fire rockets in order to help your troops. Rockets require a number of units, achieved by taking down buildings. Each battle has a time limit and of course fighting wields cash for you. There are frankly too many resources here to keep track, since there’s gold bars, the coke, the cash, wood and one more.
Of course you also have to defend your base from potential attackers and places turrets, guard towers and a solid wall. One can also set targets using the main assassins when attacking, but that’s only available for a limited time. Aside from making the coke, you also have to ship it and that involves planes and timers to get the “plata”.
The action and story was based on season 2 of the TV show and the graphics are pretty much OK for the genre. The huts, units and tone are pretty believable and they didn’t stray too much from the nifty Colombian vibe of the show. I found it a bit disturbing that the kids would be playing a game with a line of coke as the loading bar, but we’ll get past that.
Upgrades are available for sicarios and evolution of troops, buildings and the base is quite fast for a game of this genre. Too bad for the long loading screens and the fact that Pablo Escobar is relegated to merely providing tutorials and hints. In the end the TV show fans and Boom Beach fans will enjoy this game as it is and we did too, so we give it an 8.3 out of 10.
