  • When the iPhone 7 was introduced, a game was showcased on stage to demonstrate the wide color range of the screen and high end graphics of the device. That game is now available in the Play Store for free and it’s called Oz: Broken Kingdom. We tested it on the Huawei Nova Plus and reviewed it below.

It feels very much like a sort of Hearthstone in 3D and we’re dealing with a turn based battle RPG here, with characters from the Wizard of Oz universe. You’ll control the Cowardly Lion, Tin Man and Scarecrow, but Dorothy has been replaced by Ophelia. Each of these characters have abilities and attacks triggered by playing cards, that are juiced up by mana.

Mana is achieved as you get hit or play certain cards. The animations look great and aside from the core gameplay mechanics, you can also take sidekicks with you in PvP battles. Those have their own status, HP and attacks. There are tons of cards to collect and level up, but there’s also an energy meter to remind us that the game is free after all.

You can experiment with a variety of loadouts, combos of characters and sidekicks and you’re not forced to choose any path, although there’s a pretty ample tutorial in the game’s early phase. There’s also the option to speed the game 3X and play it on auto and do grinding away from the screen. PvP gamers are easily found and we have nothing but praise for this game.

It may feel repetitive and a bit hard in the later phase, but that didn’t bother me. We give it a 9.1 out of 10 and you can get it here.
