  • The Nokia X series barely launched at MWC 2014 and already there’s talk about porting their apps to other Android devices. Even though these models run Android without the Play Store and rely on a tiled interface, they’re still Android units at heart, so it’s easy to dissect them as such.

XDA Developers is on the case, with forum member opssemnik porting the Nokia Store to run on other Android gadgets. He also posted instructions on how to get Nokia Mix Radio to work and offer you all the streaming you need. Mix Radio is basically a Pandora alternative that allows you to create custom radio stations.

In order to use this app and probably other apps as well you need to modify the build.prop file of the phone so the app believes you’re using a Nokia X. Strangely enough there’s no modification required to run the Nokia Store app. I’m pretty sure this thing will work in reverse and people will bring the Play Store to the Nokia X in no time.
