War Inc: Modern World Combat Review (Cube i7 Remix): not exactly Command & Conquer, but sporting a bit of its flavour (Video)

Nowadays, modern strategy games are happy with just being clones of Clash of Clans or Boom Beach. All they change is the universe they rely on and unit and building design. War Inc is one of those many games, but it also has really, really good design.
It’s available for free in the Play Store and we tested it on the Cube i7 Remix tablet. There are two aspects of the game: base builder and the actual combat. The action takes place in 2085, that’s why there are so many mech robots around, plus tanks look so high tech. You can use snipers, regular soldiers and build vehicles, plus acquire commanders that will guide your units in battle.
Usually you don’t have control over your units and your role ends once you deploy them. However, getting a commander lets you select which area of the enemy base to target, but those special commanding units are very pricey. There are two main resources in the game: oil and crystals. They can be used to upgrade buildings, build turrets and a wall, train soldiers and build tanks.
Battle are in single player campaign mode or PvP and you get to keep the loot you score once you attack their buildings. IAPs go up to $49 and there’s an extra currency of fusion cores that makes the timers of the buildings and units go away. The best thing about this game is that you get to keep your soldiers after a battle, the surviving ones of course.
In many other similar games you would have lost all soldiers, even if you won. War Inc takes up about 100 MB and its drones, tanks and soldiers feel a lot like Command & Conquer in the best way possible. Sadly, buildings are very pricey, so after playing a few hours, you’ll hit a wall and you have to wait a lot to get past it.
It’s still a fun title if you like Clash of Clans, Call of Duty Heroes and Star Wars Commander. We give it an 8.2 out of 10 and you can download it here.
