Five Nights at Freddy’s 4 Review (Nokia N1): Possibly the Scariest and Most Frustrating Game in the Series, Requires Headphones (Video)

  • Five Nights at Freddy’s 4 is apparently the end of the famous FNAF series, one that comes to a close with this fourth title, that we tested on the Nokia N1 Android tablet. I have already reviewed all the other 3 games, so I have a bit of background on Scott Cawthon’s exploits. Priced at $5, FNAF is probably the scariest and most annoying title in the series.

Of course, the scary part comes from jump scares, just like before, but this time there’s no restaurant to guard. Instead you’re in our own bedroom at home, maybe a child in some sort of twisted prequel of all the other games… Anyway the title came at the end of July and this time the monsters have followed you home. You have to check our bed and your closet, plus two hallways, on the left and right, where the danger comes from most often.

The key here is to use headphones and listen to a potential breathing sound in the hallway. If you hear it, then close the door for a bit and if you don’t, you’ll have to light up a flashlight. This is basically an OCD simulator, because you’ll be obsessively alternating between views, doors, closet and bed, trying to catch the little monsters in the act.

Chica, Bonnie and Foxy are here, as scary as ever. Once again, the game requires headphones, since no matter what device you’re using, you won’t hear that breathing sound. Sometimes, not even headphones were enough and I missed the sound and got eaten. It takes about 7 or 8 minutes to finish a night, so this is not quite the ideal commute game. If you don’t check the bed often enough, little Freddy Fazzbears will gather there and eat you, while Foxy has a tendency of popping up sometimes from the cupboard.

Often times nothing happens in the first hours, but later on, you’ll start to get annoying by all the confusing sounds, like white noise and static, interfering with breathing. Sometimes the game felt buggy, because even at my highest point of attention, I still missed a breath. Funky minigames are still present between nights. I’m going to give this game a 7 out of 10 and you can download it here.
