  • Sony recently revealed a new companion app for its new console, the PS4 and that app will arrive on Android as well as iOS. The application will come with the console in November.

People who own the app for the PS3 or PS Vita know what to expect here, since the UI will be similar and also similar to the UI of the dashboard on the consoles. The app for the PS4 will show trophy information, friend statuses and offer access to the PlayStation Store, allowing them to purchase games and other content.

Gamers will be able to receive and send text and voice messages and invites to user PS4 users. The devices will also be able to act as second screens for the console, but that will depend mostly on the title and if it supports such features. I have to say that the Xbox SmartGlass and associated features are light away ahead of the Sony PS ecosystem here.
