Captain America the Winter Soldier Review (Galaxy S5): Good Fun for Comic Book Fans, Not Better than the Movie (Video)

Since I’ve been playing with the Galaxy S5 for a while now, I’ve thought about playing a nifty new comic book title, inspired by the latest Captain America movie. The game is called Captain America The Winter Soldier and it’s not an endless runner, as I first believed looking at the screenshots.
Also, unlike the first impression in the Play Store, the game is not available for free. You can only play 2 levels for free, the first two ones and then you have to pay 3 dollars to play the rest of 60 or so. So, this is an action game, one with comic book graphics and confusing controls. You can move Cap around either by tapping the screen or using a virtual thumbstick on the screen.
You can throw the shield by swiping on areas of the screen and there are also special powers that the Captain can use up, like some sort of Hulk Smash and a variety of other moves. You’ll be backed up by a few SHIELD soldiers, that can be upgraded, just like the Captain himself. You’ll also get the help of Black Widow and Falcon, two characters that are also present in the movie.
I should mention that the game requires Internet connection at all time for some reason, so keep that in mind when playing it. You will be able to unlock Captain suits after playing the title for a while and there’s also some PvP action going on. Sadly, that only happens in theory, since the battles against real players only take place in a virtual space, with the only thing shown on the screen being the conclusion and some figures.
Back to the single player mode, you get 3 objectives per mission and a tactical approach is available here, as the SHIELD guys can back you up and shoot up cars, that blow up and mess the opposition. You can also destroy turrets or the environment, for example blowing up a hydrant so it can interact with a power cable and jolt up the baddies.
Overall, the missions feel pretty repetitive, so you won’t get much of a kick from them, or from the PvP frankly speaking. That’s why we give this game a 7.5 out of 10. You can download it here.
