The Horus Heresy: Drop Assault Review (Xiaomi Mi 5): Clash of Warhammers, or Something Like It (Video)

I’ve been messing around with a Xiaomi Mi 5 for a week now and I took advantage of the opportunity to also test some games on the device. Among them there’s The Horus Heresy: Drop Assault, available for free in the Play Store and being part of the very appreciated and famous Warhammer 40.000 series.
Launched in January 2015 on iOS, this game’s action takes place in the 31st milenium and has a Clash of Clans vibe. You will build a base, collect resources and train your units, for future attacks. There’s PvP action and also a campaign, that involves bases you take over and then generate currencies for you. You will also need to build defensive structures, like turrets and mines to fend of attacks.
Also, if you stay away from the game for too long, your outposts from the campaign map will be taken back. Battles last around 3-4 minutes and you can also do some scouting before deploying your robots and soldiers. The units come with special powers and you will also be able to direct them towards a certain building to deliver a blow.
There’s a lot of timers here, as usual for freemium titles and those can be rid off using special gears, the freemium currency here. The other two are crystals and ammunition. You will also forge relics, to give you resource boosts and special powers. Graphics look pretty OK and the units and building are perfectly in line with the Warhammer mythos.
You can choose between Loyalists and Traitors early in the game, each with their special powers and units. I had a blast playing the game, but even though I dedicated one or two hours to it, I couldn’t unlock much content. Still, it’s a fun game to play and we give it an 8 out of 10.
