Unkilled Review (Huawei Mate S): Not Dead Trigger 3, Not Even Dead Trigger 2… (Video)

  • Madfinger Games had some excellent titles, like the Dead Trigger series ones or Shadowgun and while we’re waiting for Dead Trigger 3 to appear, Unkilled is here to soothe us. It’s a zombie-based shooter, with very short levels, that we played and tested on the Huawei Mate S handset.

Launched in September this year, the title has an energy system, as usual for a freemium, as well as timers for weapon upgrades. You can play most levels in one or two minutes or even less and either leave auto shoot on manual or take matters into your own hands and save some bullets. Graphics don’t feel hugely updated from the past two Dead Trigger titles, but at least we can use a ton of weapons.

You need to get 3 stars in the missions, in order to proceed and to do that you need to fulfill objectives, keep most HP intact and also complete the level in a certain amount of time. You’ll go through New York first and I have to say that the game is very easy, difficulty-wise. There are lots of explosions and zombies from past titles and even some bosses with a big HP bar.  Gameplay is fast paced, but the level design is kind of limited and feels cramped.

Powerups are available, like rockets or medipacks, while the weapons include machine guns, SMG and sniper. Controls are comfy and you can get cards with guns that last for a few minutes as the odd bonus. This is a fun and mindless FPS, that has some requirements when it comes to weapon levels, in order to access certain missions.

300 missions are available here and they include aside from the first person classic action levels some static sections, where you shoot a sniper and enjoy cool bullet effects. Sadly, Unkilled is very repetitive and while graphics are OK for a mobile FPS, in the end it should be all about the fun, but we didn’t have much of that here because everything was repetitive and a bit limited.

We give it a 7.5 out of 10 and you can download it here.
