  • When talking about solid alternatives to the Google Play Store, only Amazon comes in mind as the strongest competitor. And why should there be alternatives, when the Play Store runs so fine. That is because the search engine and app discovery system made by Google equals to zero, due to the very high number of apps.

I´m sure most of you have heard of Yandex.Maps or the more popular Yandex 3D launcher, that is the work of the highly appreciated  Russian Internet company which operates the largest search engine in Russia with about 60% market share in that country. A while back we covered new about Yandex getting ready to launch an alternative of their own to the Google Play Store. Now it´s here and I must admit they have really done a great job. It provides the ability to purchase apps using your regular debit or credit cards.

After registering your account, without the need of an email address, you are greeted by the most stylish interface we´ve seen in a while. Not only does it look good but it´s also very function and well thought. You can browse the apps just like on the regular Store, with the main highlights appearing on the first page in a 3D like karussell view. There is the ability to view screenshots and the general feeling is that is fast and very clean. A pleasant overall experience and I wouldn´t mind trading the regular Play Store for it. If you are interested in giving it a try, you can download the APK for free from the official webpage.
