YouTube Android app gets updated with Material Design, APK up for Download Here
Following the Material Design updates of stock Android apps like Gmail or Maps, today it’s the turn of YouTube to make that step. It has received a Material Design makeover and you can download the .APK from here and enjoy it yourself.
The icon got revised as well and once you open the app, you’ll see a bright red toolbar, that integrates the new menu button. The organization of edge-free tabs, particularly in the channel section takes me back to the Facebook official app a bit. If you tap the menu button, you’ll open up a tweaked navigation drawer, that also has Material Design written all over it and comes with white background.
The channels come with the Palette feature from Lollipop, matching the theme color of the channel with the colors pulled from the channel artwork. More advanced search filters have been included with the update and YouTube 6.0 also brings circular avatars, in keeping with Lollipop yet again.
